However, as a volunteer your<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>work could be in a hospital or outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>What will the environment be in Nepal?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nepal has a typical monsoonal climate, with a dry season from October to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May and a wet season from June to September. The main monsoon is from<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>mid-June to September, and the very best times to visit are Autumn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(September to November) and Spring (March to May). Obviously climate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>charts and temperature extremes differ across the country and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>temperatures are much colder in the north, and warmer in th e south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are coming in the winter, please bring warm clothing (think<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>layers), and cool, summer clothing is suitable for the remainder of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the year. If you are here during the monsoon, please bring a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>waterproof jacket and an umbrella.<br><br>\u2022 <strong>How much does it cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entire estimation of the cost generally depends on the type and duration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of program\/project, food &amp; accomodation category, equipments and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>infrastructure and also transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>What is the accommodation like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The applicants will be allotted in the hotels, hostels or guest house. We<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>recommend to notify the preference of stay a month before the start of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>What immunizations\/vaccines will I need?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although you do not officially require any immunizations for entry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>into Nepal. We recommend to consult your doctor for medical<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>advice and also bring a record of your vaccinations with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, GIVS is involved with the highly prestigious healthcare center in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>where the applicants could certainly get the patient centered medical<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>service\/vaccination if required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Is this a legitimate company?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GIVS is affiliated with Global Healthcare Travel Medicine Center, which is a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>government registered heath care center and providing service under<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>organization norms and is established by an expert team of medical<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>What kinds of programs are available?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program\/Project is basically based upon the curriculum\/ interest of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>participant in the field of Medicine. We recommend to notify the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>organization (GIVS) about the program\/interest at least three months before<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the date of start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Who organizes my visa for my internship\/volunteer placement?<\/strong><br><br>You are responsible for arranging your own visa for Nepal. All<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>foreigners, except Indians, must have a visa to enter the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors to Nepal are allowed to stay on a tourist visa for up to a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>maximum of 150 days (five months) per calendar year (January to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>December). Please note that international volunteers who arrive in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>August can work up to ten consecutive months, split across two<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>calendar years (i.e. August to May). Non-tourist visas are very<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>difficult to obtain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can obtain a multiple entry tourist visa from the Nepalese<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Embassy in your home country or a single entry visa upon arrival<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>at Kathmandu\u2019s Tribhuvan International Airport or at road borders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(you will be asked to fill in an application form and provide a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>passport photograph).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that you obtain your visa in your home country, as<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>it saves time and you can avoid the long (sometimes very long)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>queues at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you stay longer than the duration of your initial visa, you will<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>need to obtain a visa extension at the Immigration office in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kathmandu or Pokhara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that your passport needs to have at least six months<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>validity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>How do I get from the airport to the host family or guest house?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could find one of our staff members who will be holding a placard of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>applicant\u2019s name\/ names on it outside the airport terminal. He\/she will then<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>lead you to the hotel\/hostel\/guest house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Where is all the money going?<\/strong><br><br>The moment we get the first term of payment from the applicant we confirm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and start organizing the program. We firstly make a strategy to ensure that<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the applicant successfully achieves the desired result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>How long can I intern\/volunteer for?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The duration of stay mainly depends on the duration of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>How will I be assisted?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The applicants will be under supervision of a senior doctor or an in charge<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>during internship and an expert medical team during outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Do I need to learn Nepali?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don not need to learn Nepali unless it is your personal interest. In the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>hospitals and healthcare centers, we partner with most senior<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>consultants\/Staff. So are likely to have a good level of English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>What do I need to bring with?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will vary depending on the time of year in which you visit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nepal and what additional activities you intend to participate in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>during your stay in Nepal. It is also a good idea to bring with you a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>photocopy of your passport and visa, and keep this in a separate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>location to the original documents. If possible you should also<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>email yourself a scanned copy of important documents before<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>departing for Nepal, as this will facilitate things in the event of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>loss or theft of the original documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Do I have to be from a specific country to intern or volunteer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, You can be from any part of the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>What age do I have to be an intern\/volunteer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participant must be at least 18 years old, there is no upper age limit for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>How can I communicate with my family back home?<\/strong>Email and Internet access is widely available in the larger towns in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nepal, and currently costs approximately 100NPR per hour. There<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>is also access to wifi in the hotel\/hostels\/Guest house.
